Got Joshua Bell tickets? A program update
One of the world's leading violinists, Joshua Bell is a regular Spivey Hall guest artist whom we are delighted and proud to welcome every time. He returns with pianist Sam Haywood (who makes his Spivey Hall debut) for a recital on Saturday, February 23, 2013 at 8:15 PM.
We've just received a second program update (Dec. 11, 2012). Here's what's in store for us:
SCHUBERT Rondo for Violin and Piano in B minor, Op. 7
R. STRAUSS Sonata for Violin and Piano in E-flat, Op. 18
PROKOFIEV Sonata for Violin and Piano No. 2 in D major, Op. 94 bis
Additional Works to be Announced from the Stage
The Strauss and Prokofiev sonatas are both major works, very different in style, and will amply showcase the talents of violinist and pianist alike. I'm intrigued by how the program will end...perhaps we'll have some of the brilliant shorter pieces (e.g., by Sarasate and/or Kreisler) that Joshua Bell plays with such marvelous character and virtuosity? In any case, this promises to be a tremendously engaging evening, and a shining highlight of the 2012/2013 season.
If you don't have tickets yet, don't wait much longer...there are fewer than 60 left, they've been selling steadily, and Spivey Hall's winter flyer will be hitting mailboxes early in January.
"'Tis the season!" Joshua Bell tickets might make a nice holiday gift for someone you know -- or treat yourself. And Spivey Hall sells Gift Certificates in any amount that never expire.
PLUS, there's a pre-concert dinner at 6:30 PM that night as well, offering a wonderful meal for only $40 per person (you must buy dinner tickets in advance; they're not available at the door). So you arrive for the dinner, get a great FREE parking spot, enjoy your meal in the Continuing Education Center (just two buildings away from Spivey Hall), and then proceed to Spivey Hall for outstanding music by world-class artists. Such a deal, eh?
The dinner is served buffet style, and here's the menu:
Roasted beets & carrots on mixed greens w/ lemon herb vinaigrette
Pan-seared chicken w/ wild mushroom, pearl onion, and mustard cream sauce
All-white macaroni & cheese
Broccoli corn muffins
Flourless chocolate torte w/ macerated fruit
Concert tickets are available online by clicking here -- or from the Box Office. For dinner tickets (which aren't available online), you'll need to visit the Box Office, or call us at at (678) 466-4200 and Tammy, Tijah, Amanda or Breanna will be happy to assist you. The Box Office is open Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM. Spivey Hall will be closed for the holidays from Thursday, December 20, reopening Tuesday, January 2 at 9 AM.
